Safety Features of a Bendi Articulated Forklift
Bendi Articulated Forklifts have a range of features to ensure that they are safe to use by you. Below are just some of the features and benefits that full us with confidence when delivering a new piece of equipment. Knowing that we are offering the highest standard in safety and ergonomics within the articulated forklift sector is crucial.
Protected Design
Patented design from the original articulated manufacturer has ensured Bendi remains market leader in terms of choice, productivity, aisle performance and, most importantly, safety.
Single Front Wheel Drive
-Introduced in 2002 for operations requiring an articulated machine that works predominantly indoors in a narrow aisle racking layout where the indoor/outdoor specification of our twin rear drive machine was not required. Our single wheel design allows the machine to operate in the narrowest aisles without compromising stability. This unique design was granted the Queens Award for Innovation in 2003.
Twin Rear Wheel Drive
– Traction and braking where the centre of gravity is greatest; both laden and unladen. The best specification for indoor/outdoor operation too. This allows the mast support and front wheels to be a compact design, capable of working in narrower aisles, whilst steering and turning without working against the forces of a drive system.
Pivot Tube Mast Rotation
– Unique to Bendi, the pivot tube taper bearings are adjustable ensuring the mast support remains rigid throughout the trucks working life. This ensures stability at height always remains safe and operationally efficient.
220° Mast Rotation
– Combined with a compact front area, the 220° mast rotation allows all Bendi models to operate safely in aisle widths 200mm less than competitors machines.
Centre Aisle Stacking Position
– The unique chassis design allows all Bendi models to drive in the centre of the aisle to stack loads. Other manufacturers designs require the truck to be positioned to one side of the aisle which increases the risk of damage to product and racking.
Efficient Electronics
– Twin Rear Wheel Drive is more efficient than a front wheel drive system operating through a transverse axle and differential. Smaller electric motors can be used to provide all required power whilst drawing less energy from the battery. The main power cables from the battery and controllers are located at the rear of the truck next to the drive reducing energy loss through lengthy cables running to the front of the truck.
Purpose Built Mast
– Unlike Reach trucks, articulated forklift masts are subjected to rotational forces. Bendi found that ‘generic’ masts as used by other manufacturers are not braced sufficiently so we began manufacturing masts specifically designed to withstand the forces unique to this machine type. Stability at height is improved greatly, which also results in greater productivity.
Easy Access to Battery
– ALL battery cells are visible by lifting the seat base allowing easy inspection and water topping. Battery removal/change is from the side of the chassis using another forklift. A Much safer option considering the battery is full of acid and weighs almost 1400kg.
Easy Maintenance Access
– The patented chassis design allows easy, uncluttered access to all components for service or repair. Other designs are inhibited by the chassis design required to work around Bendi patents. Reduced downtime and Increased uptime are key factors in any operation.
Operator Management Systems/Warehouse Management Systems
– These can be adapted with ease to a Bendi that allows for overall fleet management and increased productivity coupled with the functions such as pre-start checklists to ensure the equipment is in perfect working order on every use.
